COWBOY SONGS OF THE ROARING WEST

by The Sons of the New Frontier

CORONET RECORDS
CXS 126
Circa 1960s
TRUE STEREO

The ballads of the plains, the folk songs of the back country and the work songs of the prairies all constitute a great American heritage--the musical folklore of the West. Here was a land of open spaces where men were few and lonesome. The songs of the West reflected this feeling, plus the unsuppressed gusto of the Saturday night "on the town." Like the towns, plains, rivers, and badlands; the songs of the West are rich in color, contrast and drama.

The songs selected here, by The Sons of The New Frontier, represent the finest of Western folklore. Some of these songs started over a hundred years ago, yet they are still popular today because they are songs of real people--songs that live and will continue to live as long as there are men to ride the range.

Editor's note: what can I say...it's cowboy music. I still wish I could find that one record with that cowboy song that goes something like this: "I'm a rootin' tootin' high falutin' chain-smokin' P@##%-pokin' cowboy...son of a bitch." Any help with this pardners?

Sounds like you're looking for someone's parody of Ragtime Cowboy Joe, a well-known pop song in the pre-WWI era.
