HABEMUS PAPAM (WE HAVE A POPE)
presented by David Brown
OUR SUNDAY VISITOR ERK-0648-01 1979 33 1/3
These recordings were compiled in Vatican City by freelance journalist and broadcaster David Brown, who would like to thank Vatican Radio and the South African Broadcasting Corporation, over whose transmitters most of the material was first aired. Final mixing was done by Louis van Ass at Sonovision Productions (Pty.), 100 Plein St., Johannesburg, South Africa, where the linking narration was recorded.

Habemus Papam -- a 45 minute slice of history! From the death of Pope Paul VI to the elections of Pope John Paul I and John Paul II, this superbly recorded deluxe LP, with its 12-page souvenir booklet, will be treasured for a lifetime. Recorded live in Vatican City, you'll hear interviews with Cardinals Cooke, Krol, Dearden, Pignedoli, and many others, as well as reflections from American, English, and Polish journalists and pilgrims. And most important of all -- you'll be there to hear the actual voices of joy as it's announced Habemus Papam (we have a Pope) and the new Pope gives his first Papal blessing to the world...and to you.

Editor's note: hiya Pope! Celebrate our Polish brother if you are so inclined. I am more apt to celebrate the name of the final mixer, a man with a surname of van Ass! How's that for predestination? A glad find for any record buff even if he is an ass.
I came across this record on a few blogs and managed to track down some audio from WFMU's site. I would love to hear more from this honky-tonkin' caterwaulin' queen. Listen to the tracks below and I think you will too!
