Editor's comment: the older the jazz and the more big band-ish it sounds the more lukewarm I become towards it. I mean that in a favorable light. I like some of the old big band stuff with vocals. Instrumental pieces of the jazz flavor I don't really get into. The newer stuff sounds more ambiguously jazz and I'm sure that's where this fusion term comes into place. Jazz light seems like a harsh euphemism so what shall we call it, "easy listening"? Ah- yeah, lounge-style with a glass of something on the rocks. If only we could resurrect Eartha Kitt for one more smokey set.
I came across this record on a few blogs and managed to track down some audio from WFMU's site. I would love to hear more from this honky-tonkin' caterwaulin' queen. Listen to the tracks below and I think you will too!
