Editor's note: if you love this record it surely is for the sentiment and not the highly tuned voices of the singers because they are clearly novices. There are some nice organ parts but any organ is good organ to me. The highlight of this LP is the voice over on SIDE B on the first track. In the middle of the song suddenly a voice from the Heavens begins talking (I literally looked around the room to make sure nobody was talking!) in a monologue about humanity. Any mention of derelicts will always give me pause to be thankful for language in this bizarre world. The last track on SIDE B is also unforgettable! Let's leave it at that.
By the by, the good pastor is still preaching (and I assume singing) at the same church. Drop him a line or two if you feel so inclined.
I came across this record on a few blogs and managed to track down some audio from WFMU's site. I would love to hear more from this honky-tonkin' caterwaulin' queen. Listen to the tracks below and I think you will too!
