Editor's note: on the first track the guy singing sounds like a bluesy white version of Smokey Robinson with some Procul Harem-esque backing organ. On the second track he sounds a bit like a white Ray Charles backed with the groovier version of the Rolling Stones. Hell, maybe the dude's actually black which would explain a lot. Either way there's a nice write up on the man here.

Deacon John is a New Orleans institution.His Band Deacon John and the Ivories played all over town in the 60's and this single was a hit on local radio. Deacon is still around and can be heard at local New Orleans clubs and festivals, And by the way,He is black
