Editor's note:  it's quite the dichotomy here with the trained voice of Winifred Smith singing the spontaneous songs of ethnic folk accompanied by accomplished musicians and orchestrations. If that sounds inauthentic just consider the alternative of some novice banging away on a box-stringed guitar and slobbering lyrics while drippin' chaw. I'm not much for finery but in this instance it's a rational and aesthetic superior to the original.
