MAUI BOY

by George Paoa

MAKAHA RECORDS
MS-2066
STEREO

SIDE A:

Maui Boy
Hawaii
One Paddle, Two Paddle
Lahainaluna
Sweet Someone

download

SIDE B:

Pearly Shells
I'll Remember You
Tiny Bubbles
Beyond The Reef
To You Sweetheart Aloha

download

Editor's note: George Paoa, at least on this cover, looks like a dressed-down and blue Liberace. The music doesn't follow along in that line of thinking and thank gawd for that. But it also doesn't sound very Hawaiian either. It reminds me of a Dean Martin knockoff. It doesn't suit the genre very well but it's not bad if you want lounge music with an Hawaiian feel.

KEEP YOUR EYES ON JESUS

by The Muncie Family

MBS RECORDS
TSR-370-35
STEREO

SIDE A:

KEEP YOUR EYES ON JESUS
HE TOUCHED ME
THE BEST IS YET TO COME
I WILL SERVE THEE
I'LL HAVE A NEW LIFE
UP ON THE MOUNTAIN

download

SIDE B:

I'LL MOVE UP HIGHER
EVERLASTING JOY
THE LIGHTS OF HOME
THE SWEETEST SONG I KNOW
THE OLD GOSPEL SHIP
MY LORD AND I

download

Editor's note: your typical folk rock Jesus record with building, piled-on voices. I think they call that XX-part harmonies but I call it rage singing. I don't know who started it but it begat an unfortunate trend in certain genres where it's become overwrought, in my opinion. Otherwise, the record is pretty good.

WILD BIRD SONGS VOL. 2

ED AND ANN BOYES
L08P-4353
1950s

SIDE A:

download

SIDE B:

download

Editor's note: 9 years and a few months and days ago I posted the first volume of this record with a mention of a Volume 2 which features a musical accompaniment to mockingbirds singing and here it is. It literally took me that long to find it in the wild at a rummage sale last weekend. Outside of the ill-fitting music at the end of SIDE A this is what you expect from a bird song record. Greatness!

GREAT INSTRUMENTAL HITS STYLED BY JONAH JONES

CAPITOL RECORDS
T-1557
MONO
1961

SIDE A:

The Poor People Of Paris (1:58)
Cherry Pink And Apple Blossom White (2:28)
La Rosita (3:15)
Dansero (2:42)
April In Portugal (2:40)
The Third Man Theme (2:00)

download

SIDE B:

Lisbon Antigua (2:35)
Sleepy Lagoon (2:15)
Soft Summer Breeze (2:46)
Serenata (2:44)
Theme From Picnic (2:50)
The Song From Moulin Rouge (2:35)

download

Editor's note: I didn't listen to this just like nobody in 1961 did except for members of the band's families did. All right, so that's probably not true since he was on Capitol Records and was quite prolific but it made my indifference seem less caustic. Since I bought it for the cover I'm fine with this being my only commentary on the matter.

LET GEORGE DO IT

music by John F. Wilson, words by Marti McCartney

HOPE RECORDINGS
H-576
STEREO
1974

SIDE A:

Cherry Top Chop
G-E-O-R-G-E Washington
In The Year A.D.
Boston Tea
Gonna Have A Party
Who Can? He Can!

download

SIDE B:

Cooperation
Singin' the Blues
Never Give In
Cooperation (Reprise)
George Gets a Rest
The Call
Who Can? He Can!
Finale

download

Editor's note: I don't like musicals but I like George Washington. Of course I do. White privilege, natural bias and innate racism demands that I like him. I guess it's my fate then. As for the musical itself: it's kids so I won't demean it plus it's fairly catchy and cutesy. There are a few soloists who struggle but that's what happens when you use children for a professional presentation. Plus the cover is amazing.

SIDE B:

BLUE TANGO AND OTHER FAVORITES

by Leroy Anderson

DECCA RECORDS
DL 8121
MONO
1955

SIDE A:

Blue Tango
Promenade
Saraband
Belle Of The Ball
A Trumpeter's Lullabye

download

SIDE B:

Serenata
China Doll
The Waltzing Cat
The Phantom Regiment
The Rakes Of Mallow

Editor's note: as with the other album that I posted by Mr. Anderson the music is not befitting the cover. Quality? Yes. Ear-shattering great? Not quite. But I like the art. Which is more than I can say for you grifters. Pshaw!

MARCHES

conducted by Julius Herrmann

WESTMINSTER RECORDS
WL 3003
MONO
1953

SIDE A:

Radetzky March
Die Bosniaken Kommen
Philippovits March
Schoenfeld March
Auersperg March

download

SIDE B:

84th Regiment March
Vindobona March
Andreas Hofer March
Castaldo March

download

Editor's note: it's a good thing that I recorded this the other day when I had time because I've been on the run since and otherwise there would be silence on a blank canvas here. If tomorrow night goes as tonight has at work the previous scenario will likely come true. O, dreaded duty!

Anyway, I'm not particularly into marches but this was a mini album and the J. L. Hudson Co. price sticker on the back didn't hurt this record's cause to appear on this ridiculous tableau. Side-boob pointy star and the other chest appendage held lesser weight but only because I didn't notice it until I had already secured it.

EVEN SO LORD JESUS, COME

by Harold Waltrip

PRESTIGE RECORDS
PP 74-191
STEREO

SIDE A:

AMAZING GRACE
EVEN SO LORD JESUS, COME
FOLLOW ME
I FIND NO FAULT IN HIM
HE LIFTED ME

download

SIDE B:

ROOM AT THE CROSS
WOULD YOU?
SOMETHING WORTH LIVING FOR
MARY HAD A LITTLE LAMB
JESUS AND ME

download

Editor's note: so many questions arise simply from a name. Is he related to Darrell Waltrip? Or Darrell and Darrell? Perhaps Harold and Maude? Mundane questions by the rabble for such a big idea. A GNU WORLD ORDER. All right, I'm gone far afield now on such an earnest record. Harold tried his best. He didn't convince me but I'm only a POG in the big-wheeled cog. Maybe you will see the light shine through.

SIGNALS FROM OUTER SPACE

MOONEY-ROWAN RECORDS
45 RPM
1957

SIDE A:

download

SIDE B:

download

Editor's note: according to the notes that accompany the 5 page booklet which this disc came from, "This historic, unbreakable, 45 RPM record will become increasingly valuable as the years pass. Every person, school or library should have a copy of this history-in-sound of man's breakthrough into space. The record contains the actual signal broadcast from the first man-made satellite of earth." Right.

FREEDOM IN THE AIR: A DOCUMENTARY ON ALBANY, GEORGIA

STUDENT NON-VIOLENT COORDINATING COMMITTEE
SNCC-101
1962

SIDE A:

download

SIDE B:

download

Editor's note: this is a fairly scarce and valuable record. Covering early civil rights activity in Albany, Georgia in 1961 the key message of the "negro" was that as God-fearing Christians they had nothing to lose in peaceful protesting and everything to gain in the department of dignity. The fact that they used non-violence was the key. It belittled the belittlers into dwarf-sized tyrants who were brutalizing passive people who quoted Jesus and Patrick Henry. A far cry from Black Lives Matter and a clear moral superior. You don't deserve this record but that's my own damn fault.

THE GLENN MILLER SOUND IN PERCUSSION

by Ray Burnet & His Band

CELEBRITY RECORDS
UT-184

SIDE A:

HUMDRUM
ANCHORS AWAY
BATTLE HYMN OF THE REPUBLIC
LA CINQUANTAINE
VOLGA BOATMAN

download

SIDE B:

FLAMENCO PERCUSSION
ANVIL CHORUS
WHEN JOHNNY COMES MARCHING HOME
BY THE WATERS OF MINNETONKA
ANITRA'S DANCE

download

Editor's note: maybe if they'd called this album THE GLENN MILLER SOUND IN BIG BAND we'd have gotten the mass percussion that we all crave. Instead we get maximum orchestra with typical drums. What an irony that this record sleeve mocks the so-called percussion of the day. Hell, I'd rather have had some jawbone of an ass because this is orchestral light and even lighter on the percussion in the grand scheme of things.

DEUCES WILD

by Frankie Laine

COLUMBIA RECORDS
CS 8496
STEREO
1962

SIDE A:

THE HARD WAY
CAMPTOWN RACES
LUCK BE A LADY
GET RICH QUICK
HORSES AND WOMEN
MOONLIGHT GAMBLER

download

SIDE B:

ACE IN THE HOLE
THE MAN WHO BROKE THE BANK AT MONTE CARLO
DEAD MAN'S HAND
THE ROVING GAMBLER
DEUCES WILD
GAMBLIN' WOMAN

download

Editor's note: this is an appropriate record to post on the day after the death of an Illuminati matriarch. It signifies that a man with a gun is a force to be reckoned with even if his rival is a multi-national army. "Shoot 'em in the head." if they come to do away with you is his motto. It's a lesson to globalists and bankster gangsters who think that force is the king of all ideas. It's not. Truth is. And a man who dies in opposition of tyranny is no slave to ideology. Remember that at your next Bohemian Grove powwow.

As for this record it's spaghetti western meets the bravado of the pioneer spirit. Make it happen no matter the obstacle. Except for "Camptown Races" which is absolute rubbish. Not that I identify with the old western spirit but it's better than soy-latte drinking fur-faces that look like they came out of the inbred-end of twink Bohemia tomorrow. Butch Graham surely wasn't that sort of mistaken soul.

THE NEXT 100 YEARS

by Donna Stark

RCI RECORDS
RCI-1470
STEREO
1979

SIDE A:

THE NEXT 100 YEARS
I REMEMBER YESTERDAY
I WANNA BE WITH YOU
I CAN HEAR THE DOOR
FROM LOVE

download

SIDE B:

'CAUSE YOU KNOW I LOVE YOU MORE
TOMORROW I'LL REMEMBER
IF PICTURES COULD TALK
THE WORDS TO SAY
I CAN MAKE IT

download

Editor's note: while glancing through the lyrics after buying this it gave off a vibe of melancholia but in actuality the songs are mostly breezy and sing-song happy. It's not the greatest album that I've ever heard but it's not bad either. The cover is king with me though and that boosts this into the upper strata with her regal pose and toy poodle coiffure.

RE-UPPERS DURING THE POWER OUTAGE

I'm in the midst of a multi-day power outage so I am unable to record albums but I can still re-up dead links and players thanks to my laptop batteries. I mean, I was thinking about talking a pile of records to work and recording after my shift since the alternative is sitting at home in the dark in the cold. Maybe tomorrow.

Here's the re-ups:

CHRISTMAS IS THE MAN FROM GALILEE by Cristy Lane

CLASSIC RAGS & NOSTALGIA AT THE OLD TOWN MUSIC HALL by Knocky Parker & Bill
Coffman

TENOR

by Jim Loving

MUSIC PLANT RECORDS
1977

SIDE A:

Hey, I'm A Believer
More Than You'll Ever Know
Joy In The Morning
Only Jesus Can Satisfy Your Soul
I Never Knew Love ('Til I Met Jesus)

download

SIDE B:

Dear Lord, Don't Let Me Fail You
Front Seat, Back Seat
Come Into The Ark
I'll Rise Again

download

Editor's note: luckily, Jim Loving is emanating from the glowing orange sunburst because his music doesn't churn my senses into the same aural inferno. He came too late into the game when even the DIY types were being professionally produced. By that I mean it's too polished and sacrosanct without any of the foibles of the standard one-take xian gems. Still a glad addition to the roster of obscurities.

THE SEVENTH VEIL

by Artie Barsamian and His Orchestra

KAPP RECORDS
KS-3044
STEREO
1959

SIDE A:

The Seventh Veil
Echoes From The Orient (Chifte Telli)
The Dance Of Van (Haleh)
My Sweetheart (Seeroor Yar)
Oriental Moods (Geozlarin)
Dance Rhythms (Yoru Yurvroom Yoru)

download

SIDE B:

Procession Of The Sardar
The Candy Maker (Hulvage)
The Country Dance (Luz Bahr)
Oud Fantasy
Oriental Jump (Tamzara)
Sweet Girl (Seeroom Aghchig)

download

Editor's note: while Arabic music is a bit repetitive it generally has good melodies and this record is pretty damn solid along those lines. Plus, it has a J. L. Hudson's sticker on it so it's a given that I would buy it. Hudson's was the world largest department store back in its heyday when Detroit was a world-class city. One's now defunct and the other is experiencing the zombie apocalypse that all welfare state Democrat enclaves go through because Liberalism is a mental disorder that eventually leads to genocide and decay.

AMERICAN BIRD SONGS VOLUME TWO

by Peter Paul Kellogg and Arthur A. Allen

CORNELL UNIVERSITY RECORDS
CH-1026/27
1954

SIDE A:

download

SIDE B:

download

Editor's note: this is heaven for me as far as records go. Which is why I splurged $3 for this precious wafer of warblers, wrens, cuckoos, owls, etc. That's heavy money for no returns on the investment. But I'll listen to it twice and in 15 years it'll be worth more than $3 fiat dollars which are just digital blips in a bank ledger. Yep, everything's been prostituted even the songs of birds for the human whore that craves everything for his winsome soul.
